Hats Off To Mom Banquet Theme

Decorations: Hats (you can find alot of neat and interesting ones at salvation army. Find out what day is half price for your age group and buy them then.)

Encourage ladies to wear hats. Have a hat judging contest. Have some of the ladies and daughters do a "Hats off" tribute to mom.

Favors: Take Styrofoam cups and put them upside down on a cookie sheet. Bake in a 200 degree oven for a few minutes till you see them shrivel down. They look like an old fashioned hat. Embellish them with fake jewels, small flowers and ribbons. Really cute!

You can have hats hanging on the walls, from the ceiling or whatever.

Programs could be done in the shape of a hat.

Door prizes: alot of times I see hat boxes at the dollar store. You can embellish them with flowers and ribbons.

She looked into the mirror
Her mother to reflect,
trying on this and that...
trying to find the perfect hat.

It must be as "special" as mother is
for me to resemble her
humble, sincere, full of love
reflecting our blessed Father above.

It must not distract from the beauty within
but still cause the outward to shine
perhaps this little delicate hat
with a rose of Sharon, and a ruby to shine.

I think this would tell of Mother
how special she is to me.
For this is how I see her
and all she has taught me.

OH, TO BE LIKE MOM

The little girl with braids and pearls like mother wants to be!
But all the bonnets that she sees, from in the vanity,
Do not portray the gentle soul that in her mom she sees;
That meek and quiet spirit of her virtuality.
Then to the side, soft silky edged, though wrinkled it may be,
Made her realize thru the trials Mother showed purity.
And in her life of selfless giving to her family,
God made a vessel He could use for all eternity.

Shows me, like Mom, to give my all so Jesus can use me."
